Ear Sound

What is a Hearing Aid?

A hearing aid is a small electronic device designed to improve hearing by amplifying sound for people with hearing loss. It consists of a microphone (to pick up sound), an amplifier (to increase sound volume), and a speaker (to deliver the sound into the ear).

Hearing aids help users hear better in both quiet and noisy environments, making conversations and daily life easier. They’re especially beneficial for those with sensorineural hearing loss caused by aging, noise exposure, or medical conditions.

There are different types and styles—behind-the-ear (BTE), in-the-ear (ITE), and receiver-in-canal (RIC)—to suit individual needs and preferences.
